The
Church of the Nazarene was officially organized in Boise during
the spring of 1903. In 1916 they purchased a building at 15th
& Franklin. Growth forced the members to address the inadequacy
of the building that had served them for nearly 40 years and
in 1947, in a historic decision, the congregation voted to
re-locate.

Eleven
years later the congregation finally moved into their new building
on Liberty Road, where they worshipped for the next 42 years.
Increased growth, even with the establishment of four other
Nazarene Churches in Boise, brought about "double-sessions"
and the anticipation of expansion for the growing congregation. |

In
1999, under the leadership or Pastor Robert Hopper, what seemed
circumstantial and happenstance inquiries regarding the property,
caused leadership to think in new ways about the future. After
spending days in prayer and fasting, the congregation sensed
that it was God who brought about the circumstances and that
we should in faith follow His lead. On June 6, 1999, the membership,
with a strong majority vote, approved the sale of Liberty Rd.
properties and the purchase of 38 acres on Eagle Rd. The reasoning
is nearly word for word as given by the 1948 congregation when
it moved from Franklin Rd. to Liberty Rd. ... "inadequate
facilities and the trend of the population growth to the West." Groundbreaking
Day on Eagle Road took place on June 25, 2000. The congregation
held its first service in the new church on Eagle Rd. on October
7, 2001. |
