Heidi Jelsovsky
Small Groups Pastor

I think back on my life and smile. God has blessed me way more than I deserve. I was born in Kansas City, raised in Southern California, and moved to Idaho as a teen. As a freshman at Point Loma Nazarene College, I made the most important and impacting decision of my life. I gave my life to my creator. Also at PLNC, I reconnected with a childhood friend, Craig, who eventually became my husband. In 1998 we became engaged and moved to Idaho Falls in order for Craig to fill the Youth Pastor position. We began our married life and our ministry there and continue to minister there through music today. In 2003 we were blessed with two daughters, who continue to amaze us every day.

The move to Boise for Craig’s class work at BSU opens a new phase of life for us. We are blown away at how clearly God has directed our path these past few months, and are overwhelmed at how perfectly he has orchestrated our lives in order to bring us to this point.

Boise First Community Center has always been a church that I admire. I remember the first time we drove by the building many years ago on our way to camp. I turned to Craig and said, “That is the kind of church I want to be a part of”. I was immediately attracted to the evident desire of the church to be right inside the heart of the surrounding area. I am impressed a at the depth of the community involvement of the church, and get excited seeing the ways BFCC is reaching out to The Treasure Valley. This is one of the many reasons that I see myself as a good fit for this church.

Through my love for people, my passion for the community, and my desire to see people plugged in, I already catch the vision that BFCC is casting, and could see myself an asset to the Boise First family. Beyond that, my spiritual gifts are what naturally steer me to positions of leadership and administration. My experience in leadership extends into children’s ministry including directing Vacation Bible School for many years and teaching Sunday School, youth ministry, and music ministry in volunteer lay and paid staff positions. These experiences that God has placed in my path have continued to grow me and strengthen my abilities in ministry.

I look forward to the chance of implementing these gifts, but especially look forward to providing opportunities for lay people in ministry. My desire is to equip, support, and release them in order to expand ministry possibilities and ultimately to grow His kingdom. I understand that accepting the challenge of involving lay people in this capacity can seem overwhelming, and recognize that it is only my creator that can give me the strength, wisdom, and power that is needed to take on such a task. In these times, where we completely depend on Him, He is able to do His best work.
